Viking: Extended flow back operations in the US Gulf of Mexico
Maersk Viking performed several extraordinary operations in the US Gulf of Mexico. On the second well in the Julia project, the drillship had to complete a flow back operation.
This involved the installation of an oil treatment system, utility equipment to execute operations, rigging up of the Compensating Coiled Tubing Lift Frame (CCTLF) in the derrick, and the connection of the Maersk Viking to a tanker for transferring of oil produced from the flow back. All operations were completed on time, with no incidents.
