Gallant successfully abandons seven subsea wells in the North Sea
The successful plug and abandon (P&A) operation at the James and Leadon fields in the UK sector was driven first and foremost by collaboration.
Lessons learned from previous wells were effectively implemented and ensured continual improvement in the performance of the crews.
One result of the successes was the reduction in time taken to rig up the horizontal tensioning system, reducing the installation time from 22.75 hours to just 3.5 hours. In
total over 200 lessons were learned during the P&A campaign, and the crew was proactive in acting on the proposed improvements to increase both safety and performance.
