Shallow water drilling in Guyana
Maersk Drilling will be working in Guyana on a shallow water drilling project for CGX, drilling two exploration wells.
For one well the rig will operate in a depth of around 370 metres using dynamic positioning, offering the benefit of our semi-submersible’s state of the art capabilities even in shallow waters.
Rich capabilities plus local knowledge
CGX chose to work with us not only because of our rapid availability – we were already present in the region with a hot rig able to drill their exploration wells between two contracts. They also recognised how
they could benefit from our experience in the region, outstanding rig capabilities and highly experienced rig team.
We are committed to using as much local content from across the region as we can, meeting government requirements to use local suppliers and local people both onshore and aboard the rig.
The benefit of early engagement
Engagement between CGX and Maersk Drilling started early with an eDWOP to thoroughly prepare for the campaign by scrutinising the plans and identifying opportunities for optimisation. CGX will also benefit from the presence of Maersk Drilling Performance Leads, who play a key role in the eDWOP and beyond to ensure continuous operational excellence. On the rig Performance Leads support the customer and use their long experience to drive additional efficiencies throughout the operation. They leverage data insights not only from the rig but also from across the Maersk Drilling fleet to identify ways to optimise.
With a combination of Performance Leads and an experienced crew used to working together as One Team with the customer, we are confident we’ll hit the ground running on this campaign.
