In end July 2015, Maersk Venturer commenced the contract for drilling the Hawkeye-1 well for Otto Energy, offshore the Phillipines. The well programme was expected to take 23 days, however, Maersk Venturer completed the programme in just 20 days.
All operations were completed safely with no HSE incidents and only two hours of rig caused non-productive time.
“I must say, I am very proud to be associated with the Venturer Team! It is a fantastic achievement to drill an ultra deepwater well in 20 days with no safety incidents and particularly after the rig had been stacked for six months. Everybody involved deserves credit for the commitment and the dedication they have shown during this operation,” says Eddie Fitzgerald, Unit Director on Maersk Venturer.
And Eddie is not the only one who is impressed by the crew on board Maersk Drilling’s third deepwater drillship.
“We had a very experienced offshore rep on the rig who has worked with many deepwater drilling contractors before. He was full of praise for the rig, equipment and, especially, the crew and the professionalism and support they provided to the operation,” says Drilling Manager for Otto Energy, David Thomson and continues:
“The crew are highly trained and competent with an excellent attitude that is reflected in the drilling and operational performance,” Thomson concludes.
Maersk Venturer is currently without a contract, and is located offshore Labuan, Malaysia.
“We are dealing with a tought market at the moment, there is no denying that. However, this performance shows what Maersk Venturer and her talented crew is capable of. I want to thank everyone involved for their hard work on the Hawkeye-1 well, and I hope we get to repeat the success soon on a new project” says Claus Bachmann, Asset Manager for Deep Water Drilling, Maersk Drilling.
