What does the work consist of?
The Driller is responsible for supervising and carrying out the drilling and well control and other work in connection with the drilling operations. He/she must ensure a safe operation of the drilling control system; drawworks; pipe handling systems; mud circulating systems; and Blow-out prevention (BOP) equipment in accordance with the requirements specified in the operating procedures.
What do I need to know to hold the position?
In order to hold this position, you must have the following:
- Well Control Certificate at Driller level issued by an institution approved by the IWCF, combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack
- Good knowledge of mathematics (passed Driller’s Qualification course 1 and 2 or a similar level)
- Cyber base experience considered advantageous
How do I get there?
You progress to Driller from the position of Assistant Driller or Drilling Operations Planner. You have a minimum of five years experience in offshore drilling, including two years as Assistant Driller.
