Rig Administrator
The Rig Administrator arranges the external communication on the rig and is responsible for maintaining the radio and telecommunications equipment. He/she monitors and logs positions of ships and helicopters visiting the rig and keeps communication with supply and stand by vessels. In addition to watching radio traffic, including traffic on the emergency frequency, he/she monitors the fire and gas detection systems onboard, assists the OIM with administrative work, and provides the daily weather forecast.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?
You need a GMDSS (GOC) certificate as well as good working knowledge about general administration.
HOW DO I GET THERE?
You have experience with general administration. Experience offshore or on a seagoing vessel in a similar position is an asset but not a prerequisite.
