Maintenance Engineer (Chief Engineer)
The Maintenance Engineer is a training position with a view to moving up to Technical Section Leader. He/she carries out the following tasks: maintaining equipment, technical systems and structures to the standards laid down in applicable rules and regulations for the maintenance department.
WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?
In order to hold this position, you must have a certificate of competency as Marine Engineer, STCW III/2 (unlimited).
HOW DO I GET THERE?
You come from the maritime industry where you have acquired your Chief Engineer certificate. No offshore experience is required for this position. Provided that you have the certificate, you can also progress from the position of Engine Room Responsible.
