WHAT DOES THE WORK CONSIST OF?

The Tourpusher is the deputy to the Drilling Section Leader, which means that he/she is the overall person responsible for drilling operations as outlined by the Drilling Section Leader. He/she ensures that all drilling operations are carried out in accordance with the fixed programme and supervises the drill crew and drilling equipment as well as the deck crew and other ongoing work on board the rig.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:
- Experience in all phases of onsite drilling operation
- Well Control certificate – Supervisor level, combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack (issued by an institution approved by IWCF)
- Cyber base experience

HOW DO I GET THERE?

You progress from the position of Driller when you have significant offshore drilling experience and have the proven competences and managerial skills needed.

Drilling Section Leader

WHAT DOES THE WORK CONSIST OF?

The person is the overall person responsible for the Drilling section of the rig and reports directly to the OIM. The role is the primary drilling specialist on board and therefore supervises all drilling operations from start to finish, utilising available real-time data to deliver manpower to specific equipment and to complete the operation. He/she is also responsible for the overall installation, maintenance, testing and connection/disconnection of the blow-out prevention (BOP) equipment and installation of casings; and the proper training, appraisal and overall leadership of the drilling personnel.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:
- Conversant with quality, environment and safety management principles
- Experience in all phases of onsite drilling operation
- Well Control certificate – Supervisor level, combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack (issued by an institution approved by IWCF)
- Cyber base experience.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

You progress from the position of Tourpusher or Toolpusher. You typically have six to ten years’ experience in all phases of on-site drilling operation and proven leadership skills.
