Assistant Driller

WHAT DOES THE WORK CONSIST OF?

The Assistant Driller supervises the work done on the drill floor and all other work in connection with the drilling operations. The Assistant Driller position is regarded as a trainee position to achieve competency to work as a Driller.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:
- Well Control Certificate at Driller level issued by an institution approved by the IWCF, combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack
- Good knowledge of mathematics (passed Driller’s Qualification course 1 and 2 or a similar level)
- Cyber base experience is considered advantageous.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Normally the Assistant Driller comes from a position as Drilling Fluid Operator. A minimum of five years’ experience in all phases of onsite drilling operations is required.

Driller

WHAT DOES THE WORK CONSIST OF?

The Driller is responsible for supervising and carrying out the drilling and well control and other work in connection with the drilling operations. He/she must ensure a safe operation of the drilling control system; draw-works; pipe handling systems; mud circulating systems; and blow-out prevention (BOP) equipment in accordance with the requirements specified in the operating procedures.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW TO HOLD THE POSITION?

In order to hold this position, you must have the following:
- Well Control Certificate at Driller level issued by an institution approved by the IWCF, combined Surface and Subsea BOP Stack
- Good knowledge of mathematics (passed Driller’s Qualification course 1 and 2 or a similar level)
- Cyber base experience considered advantageous.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

You progress to Driller from the position of Assistant Driller or Drilling Operations Planner. You have a minimum of five years’ experience in offshore drilling, including two years as Assistant Driller.
