Our level of ambition is reflected in the emphasis we place on all the environmental aspects of managing our business both offshore and onshore. Maersk Drilling is committed to being proactive in its approach to minimising negative impacts on the environment and by doing so enhance our corporate credibility.
Our strategy includes compliance with regulatory requirements, chemical management, risk assessments, reporting on spills and engaging with customers to find good operational solutions to prevent damage to the environment.
Environmental Management System
Our Environmental Management System forms the basis for our strategy to reduce our level of emissions and total impact on the environment as a result of our activities. We are ISO 14001 certified and our management system consists of metrics, awards and integration of environmental concerns into tools and processes.
Chemicals management system
Many chemical products are used on board our rigs. All chemicals are risk-assessed prior to use in accordance with the chemical management process. Maersk Drilling follows the elimination and substitution principles for the most hazardous chemicals.
We have recently introduced a cohesive system and common database to more effectively manage chemicals across Maersk Drilling, in response to the need for a unified, up-to-date, and user-friendly system, which can also be used to assess chemical-related risks and obtain country approvals.
