Every year, in February and September, we run a driller trainee programme, with 10-12 trainees from all over the world in each group. The programme takes 12-14 months to complete. During this period, trainees receive theoretical training at our Maersk Training facilities as well as practical training on our offshore units worldwide.

You will work your way up from performing hands-on chores as a roustabout. If you have lived up to our high expectations by the end of the programme, you will take up an assistant driller's role on one of our drilling units, where you will continue your training and career. In other words, the driller trainee programme will provide you with the necessary tools to advance quickly up the career ladder.

Programme requirements

To be considered for a place on the programme, you preferably hold a BEng/BSc in Marine, Mechanical or Civil Engineering (in Danish a maskinmesteruddannelse or an ingeniøruddannelse), or equivalent. The programme is mainly aimed at recent graduates or those with 1-2 years' experience. Proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
